While evidence is no doubt plentiful, it’s not every day you get a true-blue scientific study into the performance enhancing abilities of your favorite sports drink, which is exactly what the team behind the immensely popular Flow Drinks took a crack at with the aid of the Helsinki School of Economics Center for Knowledge and Innovation research.
The results the team arrived at were surprisingly positive, consistently showing Flow to trump a placebo that consisted of the same sugary taste mixed into water, proving that the sports drink’s effectiveness had more behind it than just hydration and blood sugar content. Keep reading to find out how Flow Endurance came out on top as a performance sports drink in this psychological and physiological study.

Testing the Untestable: Measuring Athletic Performance of Seated Participants
To test the performance enhancement abilities of Flow Endurance in an accurate and scientifically sound fashion, the researchers had to first crack the conundrum of hooking up their test subjects to a complicated array of wires and contact pads while simultaneously having them engage in rigorous athletic activity – no easy feat in and of itself prompting them to find a creative workaround: The Helsinki team had a total of 13 test subjects duke it out against one another in the popular sports car racing game GTR2.
Drivers, Start Your Engines: The Test Setup
Enter the 13 test subjects- all healthy, hale males between the ages of 20 and 29 having average BMIs and similar levels of athleticism (mitigating the chances of any discrepancies between their performances arising from their respective pasts). The assignment they were given was simple: race against one another after drinking Flow Endurance (or placebo) in exchange for a gift card and 24 bottles of Flow Drinks products in exchange for their efforts. To further motivate their wills to win, the participants were also informed beforehand that the top three performers would be given extra gift cards to said department store.
The extensive setup they used to gauge the subjects performance included measurements of their brainwave patterns using EEG (electroencephalography), their heart rates using ECG (electrocardiography), their nerve condition and reaction time using EMG (electromyography), and their skin conductivity using EDA (electrodermal activity measurements).
Good, Clean Fun: Avoiding any Alterations from Performance Enhancers
The lab team took special care to ensure that none of the participants were on any other mind altering narcotics, instructing the subjects to abstain from consuming any food or caffeinated drinks three hours prior to the test, and to abstain from alcohol and smoking at least 12 hours prior to the experiment.

In Closing: Why Flow Endurance is Better
The results the lab found leaned impressively in Flow Endurance’s favor. Those who’d been given the real drink were more consistently faster, taking shorter times to complete laps, with smaller deviations between lap times. The participants also reported having sharper focus, a heightening state of emotional elation and better cardiological performance.
All in all, the test found that Flow Endurance was markedly better than water hydration or conventional powdered sports drinks in improving the athletic and cognitive performance of those who drank it.
